Summer, Summer, Summer Time!!!

In the past week, I've added so many blogs to my reader I can't keep up! It's great to see the projects everyone has been working on.

Here's what I've been up to:

Finished Object - Frenchy Bag

I enjoyed making this bag! The fabric was cute and the pattern was super simple, especially since this is the second one I made. The only pattern alteration I made was I made the 2 pockets into 4 so they would be more functional. I think now I'll try the handbag (smaller) version of this bag!

This week has been incredibly busy. I had a whole bunch of things to post, but not enough time! School started Monday, the world lost Farah and MJ on Thursday, and we experienced a loss of our own the same day. Our neighbor's dog Larry got off of his leash Wednesday night and was hit by a train. It was horrible. He was one of four dachsunds that our neighbors rescued. Larry left behind his mate/wife who was just rescued by my neighbors not too long ago. Paige lost a very good friend that day.

What If...

Do you ever think about the consequences of your actions? Do you ever think if maybe I hadn't of done this, that wouldn't have happened?

I have these moments all time.

A week or so ago I drove to Wawa for lunch. It was the day of Obama's inauguration so I left a little early to get back in time to watch the swearing in ceremony. Anyway, I was stopped at a traffic light right outside of work waiting to turn left. Normally there is a green arrow but I guess I didn't get to the intersection in time. I made my left....and so did the person in front of me. I don't know if they weren't paying attention...or just thought there was a green arrow so they could go, but they got slammed into by pickup truck making the left turn. The pickup truck definitely sped up (a-hole) because I was turning in front of him but this lady clearly wasn't paying attention.

I felt really bad. Really, really bad! I didn't know it had even happened but Hubby heard it and turned around. From what I heard everyone was OK....but I felt like what if. What if I had waited until there weren't any cars coming? I obviously was in no way at fault for the accident but it definitely made my day suck knowing that someone, like me, was just going to pick up lunch and probably totaled their car. Ugh!

I am re-identified

A variety of changes have occurred over the last week:

I have started the lengthy process of changing my last name. Today, I am officially no longer Miss OldLastName (that I love) but I'm Mrs. NewLastName. I went to the Social Security office a week ago and updated my records there so the IRS has my tax info correct. I gave work my new social security card today so they could update my records. Now I will have a new work email address, name plate, and business cards.

I went for the second time to get my driver's license during lunch today. I originally tried on Saturday but the line nazi told me I didn't have enough information with me. Apparently a US passport, digital drivers license, certified marriage certificate, and utility bill were not enough to proved I was Miss OldLastName. I needed my birth certificate too (UGH)!

Well, today I went armed with a ridiculous amount of information including my birth certificate. Oh, did I mention the only thing I needed to get my name changed on my social security card was my passport and my old social security card....it seems like someone has their priorities backward. I showed a boat load of information to yet another line nazi (who this time was turning away a guy because his social security card was creased down the center!), filled out the form on which I put my old last name down (D'OH!), paid $11, got my picture taken, and I'm Mrs. NewLastName.

Now I just need to update my bank accounts, credit cards, mortgage....and it goes on and on.

Another change occurred this past week as well. Yesterday I chopped off my hair. I had been wanting to since a month before the wedding but held out so that I could put my hair up. Yesterday I went and had it cut to just above my shoulders. I love it! It feels so much healthier and lighter, definitely lighter. It's the first time since I started dating Hubby that I've cut my hair so drastically. The last time I got it cut really short, the lady cut it too short and I hated it! I was miserable until it started to grow in a bit. Lesson learned - now I know how short is too short for my face!

Heartbroken

Saturday was unfortunately eventful. FH and me came home from the beach which put me in a foul mood. I'm always depressed coming home from vacation but even more so this year because I had to deal with the reality of completing my take home final for Wednesday and wedding craziness. FH ran out to a "draft party." He's in a fantasy football league. Football is the only sport I really can't tolerate. As a kid, it was always on in our house all day and night on Sundays and I grew to hate it. FH is really excited about football so it's all he tends to talk about from September until January. Poor me! FH had a good time at the draft and had a bit to drink. Needless to say I picked him up from the party and we didn't speak to each other all night expect to throw a few jabs (verbally!) here and there.
FH woke me up around 9:30 Saturday night with terrible news. Paige's BFF and FH's family's dog Caseygirl was very sick at the vet. Casey was a beautiful, gentle, and loving girl. We miss you so much!
